The history of KAFLARNIA GROCHOWSKI TILERY began in Radomsko, Poland in 1890 when Ludwik Grochowski established "The 1. Christian Tile Factory", that later became wellknown of manufacturing socalled "Berlin tiles". From that time Grochowski Tilery began developing the art of baking tiles.
The Tilery was during the 2. worls war led by Tadeusz Grochowski, but offcourse the Tilery had a very hard time during these 5 years. After the war he continiued developing the factory and during the decades 60' and 70', he noticed growing interest in his products.
Thanks to active fundraising, the youngest son of Tadeusz, Kazimierz in 1972 started modernisation of the tilery, such as hydraulic press and gas oven for the tile baking. Nowadays the son of Kazimierz, Przemyslaw carries on with the traditional tilerythat has become art, and there is only a few of them left in Poland. Their unique technology, tradition and passion are creating an interesting alternative to all the mainstream tileries in Europe.
The customers love the handmade tiles baked in the oldfashioned oven. Kaflarnia are today counting 8 employes : the director Przemyslaw that works in the production when he's got the time for it, his kind wife Barbara taking care of costumers and paperwork, 5 tilemakers and 1 painter.
Przemyslaw asked me over a year ago if I would assist him creating a new series of true copies of swedish stoves for the Scandinavian market. Sure I would, I love the stoves and taken in consideration, that the nice stoves gets rare and very expensive in Sweden, Przemyslaw vere sent from Heaven.
We have now made it so far, that KAFLARNIA GROCHOWSKI until now made the forms and tiles for 8 different models, and hopefully we will se more rectangular stoves in 2025.
