Swedish ceramic stoves.
A swedish tiled stove is a fantastic heating source. You fire the stove for 3 hours, and you get 8 - 12 hours heating for free. The conditions to have such a stove built in your house or apartment :
You should check the conditions for the installation of a woodburning ceramic stove in the regulations concerning your country. There are 27 members of EU and all the countries has their own regulations f.ex. about distances to flammable materials.
A swedish stove contents 35 - 60 tiles and the stovemaker builds the stove tile by tile on location. Normally it takes 4 to 5 days to build a 2.35 m stove weighing 1 ton. Its built with a 5- channel system founded by a swedish engineer named Carl Johan Cronstedt and the general Fabian Wrede in the year 1767. The 5-channel has been used ever since. The stove contents 7-8 meters of channels inside, which the smoke goes through before it leaves the stove.
The bricks are put into a bucket filled with water for a few minutes before placed. The inside is therefore filled with bricks full of water and it has to dry out for 3 months before use.
Most of the antique stoves are produced from 1860 to 1920, elder stoves are both expensive and rare. Sometimes more expensive than a new Kaflarnia stove. Mostly the Kaflarnia has a much better quality than the old ones, but some wants an old stove with patina for an old house. Our swedish stovemakers Philip and Per Haave are building both old and new stoves all over Europe and USA. Per and I have worked together since 1992, the son Philip is educated by Per and has built stoves for 10 years now, together they have built more than 1500 stoves, the 900 in Denmark with me. I'm not working in the fields anymore but just sitting in the office, making sure that everything goes smooth and everyone is happy with their stoves.
