The round swedish stove has always been a bit more than half a circle. In the old days the chimney were placed in the middle of the house, 4 rooms were placed around it, 4 stoves were attached to the chimney, 1 in each room. They were all placed in the corner of each room, and therefore the stoves are a little more than half a circle. It has 5 tiles in a row. 10 years ago you could buy old stoves with 6 tiles in a row for straight wall positions. 6 tiles are necessary to make the combustion chamber deep enough. But nowadays they are gone and impossible to find. Luckily we have the new handmade Kaflarnia 6/8 stoves with 6 tiles in a row, problem solved.
Round without a midband - from 2.05 to 2.90 ms high. - 30 inches (74 cms) in the footrow - 27 inches(67 cms) over the the footrow. 27 inches in the footrow is very rare.
Round with a midband - from 2.55 - 3.20 ms high - 33 inches (82 cms) in the footrow, 30 inches(74 cms) under the midband, 27 inches(67 cms) over the midband.
It's quite easy to measure how far out from the corner the stove goes. The 90 degrees angle is divided in 2 x 45 degrees angles. Draw a line 40 cms out from the corner, drive a nail into the floor, tie a string (length 33,5-41 cms, depends of the foot of the stove 27"-33") to the nail and draw the halfcircle with a pencil.
If you want to measure how far out from the wall a 6/8 stove for straight on the wall position goes, you start with pointing the middle of the stove, make a point at the wall, make a point on the floor 24 cms angleright from the the wall. Make a 41 cm string and make a circle around the 24 cm point.
