Cleaning the channels :

After the firing season it would be wise to clean the channels of your stove. The stove has 4 channels, 2 on each side of the combustion chamber - 2 front - 2 back divided by a brickwall 5 cms thick. This wall starts 20 cms over the bottom of the chamber.

The combustion chamber is like 150 cms high, starting with 32 cms wide in the bottom - 5-7 cms wide in the top. The smoke goes from the top of the chamber into the 2 front channels. It turns up again 20 cms over the bottom of the combustion chamber. The 2 channels in the back of the stove goes almost to the top, where the damper is placed and there after out in the chimney.

Starting cleaning : Open the 3 cleaning doors carefully, 1 on each side at the bottom of the channels, 1 in the top placed in the mid of the crownband. They can sit quite tight, so you place your hand against the tile and then it's easy to open the small round doors with a screwdrive. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft hose to empty the 2 chambers in the bottom. Then put the hose into the hole in the top and drive the hose back and fourth several times, just to be sure, that there's no more ashes left. The channel to the chimney can easily be 75 cms long, so don't get surprised of the depth. When you use dry wood, there will be no dust and ashes in the vertical channels.

Tilejoints repair : If you're a handyman, you can easily repair the tilejoints - if you are not, don't even try, just call an expert.          When you fire, the stove grows a few milimeters - when it gets cold it sinks again. That's the reason why the tilejoints falls out by the time. Normally the tilejoints are made with a white fine cementbased mortar, special made for kitchen tiles, available in every builders merchant in 2-5 kilo bags.

First you take out all the loose tilejoints with a hobbyknife or similar. Brush the whole stove and vacuum afterwards. Mix the mortar in a cup till it's like porridge, rub the mortar into every crack with a spatula or a finger. Take only 75 cms of the stove body at the time, otherwise it gets too dry. After 10 minutes you take a bucket of lukewarm water and a sponge, then wipe carefully with the almost dry sponge. Dip and dry the sponge often not to spoil the new joints. When you are finished with the whole body, take a 15 minutes break. Grab the daily news paper, crush som pages and wipe the whole stove with it. And hokus pokus - your stove is like new.

Cleaning the glassdoor : You use ordinary window cleaning spray for the glassdoor. If there's some soot left, use a rasor blade or a blade from a hobbyknife to take away the rest from the corners.

Repairing the fireroom : Every 4-5 years it would be wise to repair the chamber with special mortar for fireplaces. Start         vacuming the chamber, spray thoroughly the whole chamber with water. Mix the mortar to a thin porridge, put it on the walls with a wide soft brush and let it dry for a day or two.

These measures will make your stove healthy for many many years to come.
